EveryoneSocial's URL Tracking enables you to track branded content within your web analytics program (e.g., Google Analytics).

URL Tracking is activated by an EveryoneSocial Admin and works with the content domains you own and manage—websites where you host your branded content and collect analytics.

Once a colleague shares a Post that contains a URL that matches one of your company domains, EveryoneSocial will automatically add the UTM parameter values or "Tracking Keys" to the end of a URL. New data will begin streaming into your analytics tool if you've pre-configured it to track those values.

All you need to get started is to enter the Tracking Keys and Values within the Workspace Settings. that match what you've created within your web analytics platform. We also have an Overview of the URL Tracking Tool for use cases and best practices.

Let's get started!

URL Tracking data review

Your CRM or analytics tool will begin to collect and parse data from the Tracking Link clicks once URL posts are shared with the domains selected for URL Tracking and those shared links are clicked.

Use the Tracking Keys and the Values to create views and see the data sent to the analytics tool.

For example, in Google Analytics, you'll build custom Segments and select the Filter (aka Tracking Key) that "exactly matches" the Value for the URL Tracking Link.

FAQ

Can I add a Value to see who is sharing the post?

You can track who is sharing a post using a User ID. This is done by adding a Dynamic Value for a User ID. The User ID is a non-identifiable value correlated to the Analytics > Users report to see who shared the content. There are two columns, User ID and Name, that you can use to compare a shared post's User ID to the user in your Workspace.

Do I need to include "utm_" in my Tracking Key text?

This depends on your analytics provider. Some providers require "utm_" to be contained within the URL so the analytics app can identify the text that follows as the UTM parameter and specified value. Other analytics apps search the whole URL for exact matches and do not require the usage of "utm_" in the Tracking Key text or URL. We suggest consulting with your analytics provider for their recommendation.

Why is my Tracking Key not saving

We typically see Tracking Keys invalidate because there are spaces included and the Key does not accept spaces. Please add a dash or period in place of spaces to save your Key.
